Ehrenhaft, Daniel. The Last Dog on Earth. NY: Delacorte, 2003. $15.95. ISBN 0-385-73005-5.

The Last Dog on Earth is a spectacular novel about a troubled teen, who hates everyone, and his ugly she-dog Jack. The author's brilliant ability for hyperbole and understatement offers an unforgettable insight into the psyche of an angry boy as he fights to save his dog while a deadly disease, which turns canines and humans into raging predators, is spreading across the western regions of U.S. The Last Dog on Earth is a flawless story for readers interested in science, lucky enough to have dogs, or just interested in great fiction.

Highly recommended.
