Campbell, Kumari. Destination Saint John. Learner Books,1998. $22.60. ISBN 0-8225-2785-5.

From the "Port Cities of North America" series.

Lerner Books' series on ports of North America includes books on Saint John, Valdez, Duluth, L.A., Montreal, New Orleans, San Juan, New York, Montreal, and St. Louis--cities one does not usually think of in the same category. Each volume is thorough, clear, and full of photographs. Campbell's book about St. John, New Brunswick, Canada, is typical, beginning with geography (love that Bay of Fundy and its record tides) and covering history, government, information on how the port works, and a glossary. This is an excellent series for research on the topics mentioned above and on trade, past and present.

Recommended reading level: Age 8-10
