Jerry Farber teaches courses in both comparative literature
and English, and has recently been teaching a course in European
children's fantasy fiction. His books include A Field
Guide to the Aesthetic Experience, and he has published
essays in a number of scholarly journals. Among his recent
essays are "Teaching and Presence" (Pedagogy,
Spring 2008); "Toward a Theoretical Framework for the
Study of Humor in Literature and the other Arts" (Journal
of Aesthetic Education, Winter 2007); and "What
Is Literature? What Is Art? Integrating Essence and History"
(Journal of Aesthetic Education, Fall 2005). His
current research interests include literary theory, Proust,
aesthetics, humor theory,and the teaching of literature.
